The beach is in the town of Capitola, just south of Santa Cruz. Take New Brighton/Park Avenue exit off Highway One for beach camping. The camping area is on a bluff overlooking northern Monterey Bay. Restrooms, showers, picnic areas, swimming, fishing and a nearby forest of Monterey pine and coastal live oak.

20 miles north of Santa Cruz via Highways 9 and 236. 146 family campsites located in four campgrounds. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring, and most have wooden storage cupboards. Tent cabins available. Piped drinking water, restrooms and showers, backpacking, hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails. Store on-site. Reservations are encouraged. This is the oldest State Park in California and home to the largest continuous stand of ancient coastal redwoods in Central California.

From San Luis Obispo take Highway 1 north approx. 65 miles. From Monterey take Highway 1 south approx. 50 miles. Located within the Los Padres National Forest, this campground is on the west side of Highway 1 and has 33 campsites situated on a bluff with views of the Big Sur coastline. Tents and RVs. San Simeon Creek Campground

35 miles north of San Luis Obispo on Highway 1; 5 miles south of the Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument Visitor Center; Cambria is located 2 miles to the south. 115 campsites for tent camping or recreational vehicles. The maximum R.V. length is 35 feet. Campsites include fire rings and picnic tables. Restrooms with flushing toilets and coin-operated showers. Hiking, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, bird watching and whale watching.
Oceano Campground

22 campsites and each site can accommodate 4 to 6 people with either one R.V. or a couple of tents. Each site is equipped with full hook-ups (electricity, sewer, and water) and showers. Private lagoon for fishing. Nature center at the campground entrance. Several docent-led walks start from the nature center. A migratory bird habitat and a fresh-water lagoon are adjacent to the campgrounds. A wooded nature trail circles the lagoon. The dunes to the beach are a short hike.
Fremont Peak State Park

Ten primitive family campsites and 40 picnic sites, each with table and stove; pit toilets and water a short distance. Picnic tables, restrooms. No showers. No trailers or R.V.s. During the summer, campers enjoy informal campfire programs and nature hikes. The park also features an astronomical observatory with a 30-inch telescope, which is open for public programs on selected evenings. Observatory programs offered April through October on moonless Saturday evenings starting at 8 p.m.

Located in the Santa Monica Mountains, 15 miles south of Oxnard on Highway 1. Coin showers. 5 miles of ocean shoreline with rocky bluffs, sandy beaches and sand dunes, rugged hills and uplands, two major river canyons and wide grassy valleys. More than 70 miles of hiking trails. Beach recreation includes swimming, body surfing, and surf fishing. The 13,300-acre park includes the jagged pinnacles of the Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area..

South Carlsbad State Beach

The beach is located 3 miles south of Carlsbad. Showers (accept tokens only). This San Diego beach features swimming, surfing, skin diving, fishing and picnicking. The large blufftop campground is very popular, especially in summer. Stairs lead to the beach.
Doheny State Beach

Camping in the southern area of the beach. 120 sites for R.V.s and tents. Picnic tables and fire rings. Showers, visitor’s center, Wi-Fi service (located at the Doheny SB snack bar). This service enables park visitors with wireless laptop computers or personal digital assistants (PDAs) to access the Internet.
San Elijo State Beach

Located on the San Diego Coast. 171 spaces for tents or R.V.s up to 35 feet long. Picnic tables, fire grills, piped water, flushing toilets, showers, a dump station and a small store. San Elijo State Beach now offers AT&T Wi-Fi service enabling visitors with wireless laptop computers to access the Internet. Some of the campsites and the store are wheelchair accessible. Pets are permitted on 6-foot leashes on the campground. Beach receation includes swimming, surfing, showers and picnicking.
